Former Law Maker, Dr. Ujam Officially Joins the All Progressives Congress.

Says: “I didn’t leave PDP, it was PDP that left me”.

The last hasn’t been heard of the defections hitting the South East PDP from the ongoing Revalidation and Registration exercise of the APC as another PDP stalwart from Enugu State decamped over the weekend to the fold of the All Progressives Congress. Before now speculations about his defection had been rife but some PDP faithfuls quickly debunked it, with others saying it didn’t matter as it seemed connected to his rumored governorship ambition.

Dr. Chukwuemeka Ujam was a former Commissioner for Lands under the government of Barr. Sullivan Chime and a former member of the House of Representatives where he represented Nkanu East/West Federal Constituency for a single term, all these heights attained under the PDP.

Speaking at the event which happened on Sunday 21st day of February, 2021 at Boys’ Secondary School Akpasha, Akegbe-ugwu, the APC Chairman Enugu State, Dr Ben Nwoye, having led the tumultuous crowd to observe a minute silence in honour of late Dr. Andrew Ugwu Nwafor Ujam, the new entrant’s father, continued by expressing his happiness over the progress of APC in Enugu state under his watch, especially by successfully wooing and enlisting PDP’s finest brains such as Emeka Ujam. He thanked the party Stalwarts and faithfuls that graced the occasion for their unwavering faith and support to the APC.

While performing the induction rituals on their new bride – Chukwuemka Ujam, Chief Ken Nnamani, an APC big wig and former Nigerian Senate President, could not conceal his joy over the successful registration of Dr Ujam. Nnamani went further to describe Ujam as a man of excellent education and exposure coupled with an intimidating family and social pedigree. In his words: Your quality education and exposure are well documented. As a big fish that only swims in big water, we, APC, stand to gain what the PDP mistakenly have lost in you. Chief Ken Nnamani pleaded with Emeka Ujam to bring his wealth of experience in politics to bare in his new polical expedition with APC.

In his acceptance speech made public by Comrade Chukwuka Nnamani, Hon. Dr. Chukwuemeka Ujam, PhD, maintained that his decision to join APC was not an easy one as it involved a wide range of meetings and consultations with friends, superiors and political allies across the length and breadth of the country. He further stated, rather amazingly, that “I did not leave the PDP, it was the PDP that left me”. He promised to bring his political expertise to bare in his new party. He thanked all that graced the occasion, including his boss, though not in attendance – The former Governor of Enugu state, His Excellency, Barrister Sullivan Chime.

Other dignitaries that attended the event include: All State Excos of APC Enugu State; Major General Ugwu, rtd, Nigerian ambassador to Poland; Chief Sunday Eze, APC Chairman, Nkanu West; Hon. Fidelis Anyaogu (Onwa Nsukka); Barr. Jerry Ene, Former Council Chairman Nkanu West, the APC Registration and Revalidation team from Abuja, and many others.
