Project 2023: Forward Ever, Backward Never….. Obiozor.

The Igbos of all walks of life resident in Abuja and the 19 States of Northern Nigeria, on Friday, April 16, played host to the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Ambassador Professor George A Obiozor and a few members of his executive. The Abuja visit was to reassess the Igbo deep sense of brotherhood and fraternity. The epoch making assembly was held at the Bolingo Hotels, Abuja.

Before the assembly, the Ohanaeze leadership paid a courtesy call to the Ezeigbo Abuja, Chief Ibe Nwosu and other cultural leaders from all the 19 states of the North. The Ohanaeze leadership was later received by the Igbo caucus of the National Assembly at the residence of Sen. Prof. Ike Ekweremadu, CFR. Senators Eyinna Abaribe, Dr.Sam Egwu, Rt Hon Toby Okechukwu, Hon. Mrs Nkiru Onyejiocha, Hon. Igariwey and others were in attendance. The caucus had a fruitful discussion with the Ohanaeze leadership. The Ohanaeze delegation also visited the leadership of Imeobi Abuja led by Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife.

At the Bolingo Hotels, Professor Obiozor expressed immense delight that the Igbo were able to come together within a very short notice. He explained that it is a demonstration of effective leadership, unity, cohesion and preparedness for the Igbo agenda in 2023. Obiozor remarked that Igbos may be as separated as the five fingers but are united in one hand because of common interest and collective destiny. He explained that what the Igbo want is one Nigeria that provides a level playing ground for individual talents, irrespective of ethnic group to find full expression for the overall interest of all and sundry. He emphasized that for Nigeria to exit our present predicament, we must embrace justice, equity and rule of law, stressing that a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction is a project that beckons all Nigerians. Obiozor urged the assembly that Project 2023 is forward ever and backward never. Obiozor used the opportunity to thank all the Igbos for the enormous support they gave him at Owerri on Jan 10, 2021. He assured the assembly that he will not betray their trust. The meeting attracted some former Governors, former ministers, captains of industry, scholars, presidents of all the chapters of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the 19 Northern States led by Chief Chikezie Nworgu, the Ezeigbo Abuja and other Ezeigbos in the North, Umuada Igbo, etc.

Obiozor was commended by the assembly for his profound intellect, courage, organisational acumen and strategic thinking. They further reposed their unalloyed confidence in Obiozor.
Among other far reaching resolutions reached by the assembly was that the only recognized Ohanaeze Ndigbo is the one led by Prof George Obiozor. Other pretenders to Ohanaeze leadership are warned to desist from tarnishing the Igbo image and the wrath that awaits renegades of all ages.
