….Isiuzo LGA to face Nkanu West today

The Opening Ceremony of the Nkanu Unity Cup which took place on Sunday 12th of December at the UNEC mini stadium was a huge success as dignitaries and football lovers were on ground to witness the historic competition.

The opening ceremony match of the tournament which is being organized by Nkanu Youth Council in partnership with Kanu Nwankwo Football Academy (Papilo FC) was officially kicked off by Hon. Manfred Nzekwe, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Enugu State.

Other dignitaries were the Deputy Leader Enugu State House of Assembly and Member Representing Enugu South Rural Constituency, Rt. Hon. Onyinye Ugwu, Chairman House Committee on Youth, Sports and Security and Member Representing Aninri Constituency, Hon. Chinedu Okwu Otaka, Federal Commissioner and Former Enugu State APC Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, Executive Chairman Enugu North LGA, Hon. Emeka Onunze and his Enugu South Counterpart, Hon. Monday Eneh, FIFA rated referee Madu Ndidiamaka, NFF Match Commissioner and Nollywood Actor Diewait Ikpechukwu, NFA Enugu State Secretary, Nollywood Twin Actress Chidinma and Chidiebere Aneke, other top government functionaries and appointees, Executive Members of Nkanu Youth Council, other Sports lovers and top Media Stations.

The under 17 Talent Hunt Football Competition tagged Nkanu Unity Cup, which is meant for the six Local Government Areas of Enugu East Senatorial Zone, is aimed at complimenting the youth empowerment mantra of the Executive Governor of Enugu State Rt. Hon. Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

The National President of the Organization and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Culture and Tourism, Monday Diamond Ani who thanked Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his immense support towards the youths of the State, expressed joy and gratitude to God Almighty for making it possible for them to come up with such life changing program, Hon Monday Diamond Ani further appreciated the African Legend Kanu Nwankwo for his kind decision to accept to help promote soccer in this part of the country where he is needed mostly, according to Diamond, the essence of this tournament is to further strengthen the bond of unity in Enugu East Senatorial Zone through football as well as to help empower our gifted youths by discovering some hidden talents that will replace the likes of Christian Chukwu, Kanu Nwankwo, Dominic Nwobodo and so on in the world of football.

Meanwhile, Team Enugu North defeated Team Enugu East LGA 4 goals to 1. Team Isiuzo will face Team Nkanu West today Monday, 13th December in the second match of the tournament.
