Opinion: Transforming Enugu State through Ekweremaduic Binocular

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy” (see Martin Luther King. Jr.). It is no longer news stating the series of bilious campaigns that greeted the 2023 governorship declaration of Distinguished Senator Ike Ekweremadu. His 2023 governorship declaration elicited several fluids of campaigns and unhealthy ballistic opinions that many lovers of the state are worried that political saprophytes in the state are cementing their place in the state’s rock of leadership.

The thrust of their grouse is that it is not the turn of Enugu West Senatorial Zone to produce the next Governor of the State due to their claimed unwritten zoning arrangement. However, none of his critics and traducers have questioned his capacity to redirect the ship of the State from its current apocalyptic state to developmental nirvana the citizens of the State are craving for. Unfortunately, rather than presenting their credentials and plans on how to save Enugu State from its present cataclysmic condition, they are bilious in their watery attacks and claims.

Aside, many lovers of the State will agree that as a State, Enugu is seriously battling with series of issues ranging from unemployment, kidnapping, herdsmen terrorism, armed robbery, ritual killings, boundary issues, unknown gunmen attacks, murder, arson, separatist agitations and etcetera. And given to the present issues troubling the state and desire for transformative leadership, it is time for the lovers of the state to resolutely stand to challenge the political saprophytes in the state who think the state belongs to them.
And to rid ourselves from these developmental manacles and shackles, we urgently need the Midas touch of Senator Ike Ekweremadu or what I call; “Ekweremaduic binocular” to transform the State. This is because the pedigree of Senator Ike Ekweremadu shows that he possesses the empathetic knowledge and systemic approaches to steer the ship of the State and put the State in its rightful developmental path.

Furthermore, since being led by a purposeful, visionary, competent, empathetic and effective leader is urgently needed to put the state in its rightful place, we have no reason not elect Senator Ike Ekweremadu as the next Governor of Enugu State comes 2023.

It is often said that doing the same thing over again and expecting different results is insanity. Hence, as the 2023 governorship election approaches, it would be insane to re-elect political saprophytes that have put the state in lachrymose and distressful conditions. We can only attain progressive and modern state by electing a transformative, creative and innovative leader of which the proven qualities of Senator Ike Ekwemeremadu showcased.
