The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday arrested a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Etteh, for alleged receipt of N130 million suspicious payment from a contractor 11 years ago.
Sources told journalists the ex-speaker is being quizzed for collecting the money from a contractor handling the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) solar-powered electrification project for communities in Akwa Ibom State in 2011.
Etteh was the speaker of the House of Representatives from 2006 to 2007.
She was forced to resign from the position in October 2007 after the lower legislative chamber was rocked by a protracted crisis over a N628 million contract scandal
