In what could be described as a celebration of hope and victory, the Nkanu East Leaders Consultative Forum (NELCF) has paid a congratulatory visit to the 2023 governorship flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party in Enugu state, Dr. Peter Ndubuishi Mbah, over his landslide victory in the recently concluded primaries held on 26th May, 2022.

Speaking on behalf of NELCF on Monday at Dr. Mbah’s Enugu residence, the traditional ruler of Umuawalagu Nara Unateze kingdom and Patron of Enugu State Traditional Rulers, HRH Igwe Abel Nwobodo, stated that the NELCF and the entire people of Nkanu East were fulfilled at what had recently happened in the state. He said the choice of Dr. Mbah was the people’s choice as the day of his declaration as Enugu state PDP’s governorship flagbearer represented a historic landmark in the state with high expectations from his administration when elected.

Conveying their congratulatory message to Mbah, Igwe Abel reiterated the strong resolve of the Forum to continue to support his candidature with all available resources. He exuded confidence that Mbah’s unequaled intellect and wealth of experiences in the private sector would help him drive Enugu state to a enviable height.

Relaying the NELCF’s months of consultations across the state, the traditional ruler said he was grateful for the support the Forum received from well meaning people during their consultation tour. In particular, he explained the invaluable role and support given to the Forum by the state governor, Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and how his positive body language rekindled their hope of a new dawn for Nkanu East, Enugu East senatorial zone, and Enugu state in general.

According to the leader of thought, history would never forget the kind gesture of the governor towards the people of Nkanu East local government area.

Appreciating the other former gubernatorial aspirants in the state under the PDP for their spirit of sportsmanship, Igwe Abel revealed how those from Nkanu East council area signed peace agreement that all of them would accept the outcome of the primary election in good faith and support whomever emerged as the party’s candidate. He added that all the former aspirants from the council area and the entire Enugu East senatorial district had shown good faith, and charged them to mobilize for Mbah’s candidacy ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Also speaking, a traditional ruler and member of the Forum, the Eze Agabi II of Ihuokpara Kingdom, HRH Igwe F. O. Nwatu, described Dr. Mbah as a man of laudable character and a leading force in Nigeria’s economy who knows how to inspire economic growth, alter the narrative and change development trajectory in the state. He said his evaluation was borne out of the fact that Mbah’s outstanding pedigree as an entrepreneur and an international investor was never in dispute.

Igwe Agabi further added that Governor Ugwuanyi would never be forgotten in the history of the people of Nkanu East while urging PDP faithful, youth organizations and women wing to mobilize maximum voters for the emergence of Mbah as the next governor of the state in 2023. “The governor has kept to his promise. He has given the people of Nkanu East reasons to celebrate,” the traditional ruler enthused.

Meanwhile, the former Deputy Governor of the state and an aspirant in the last month’s primary election, Dr. Ralph Nwoye who spoke on behalf of other former aspirants from Nkanu East council area has stated that they’d met and resolved to work earnestly with the governorship candidate for his victory in the forthcoming election.

Dr. Nwoye who said they were glad to be received with open arms by Dr. Mbah expressed confidence in the capacity of the candidate to bring the needed transformation in the state. He assured they would do everything possible to ensure the victory of the business mogul as no stone would be left unturned in the campaign.

On his part, the convener of the NELCF and a former high ranking member of the House of Representatives in Nkanu West/East federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Anayo Edeh, has showered encomiums on the state governor for ensuring that equity and justice prevailed in the party.

Hon. Edeh observed that the contest was a fierce but brotherly tournament amongst the contestants where one person had to emerge winner. According to him, the best had emerged, and everyone must key into his agenda for the progress and development of the state.

Describing Governor Ugwuanyi as a dependable and worthy brother, Edeh said the governor has rekindled their hope on democracy and promised to always remain grateful.

In his welcome address, Dr. Mbah expressed his gratitude to the NELCF for their efforts in making sure that the right candidate emerged without rancour or resentment.

According to the soft-spoken entrepreneur, his victory couldn’t have been possible without the appreciable input of the people.

“I want to thank you for coming here today. I appreciate your immense effort and I want to assure you that we will work with every interest in the state. I have tried to reach out to many of them, and they’ve accepted to work with us.

“I received the messages of other aspirants and I’m happy we are on the same direction and the same page.

“I have incorporated the team of Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga, and others. I was invited by Hon. Chijioke where he introduced me to his team. I have assured them we are all going to merge and work together. Just yesterday, I was also hosted by Chief Evarest Nnaji in his residence. Over two hundred of his team members were there. He made a formal introduction and urge them to join us. I addressed them and we will be working together. Our victory is all inclusive and we will ensure that all interests are accommodated,” Mbah stated.

Meanwhile, Mbah has allayed the fear of the people promising that he would never disappoint them. “It is a new dawn in Enugu state,” he announced.

“I’m urging all of us to work together towards the task ahead. We should work towards the party’s victory in the coming election. We should front a strong and formidable platform for this project,” he further stated.

He appealed to the people to see the task as an individual and collective project, adding that he would run a people-centered government that would give every citizen sense of belonging.
