The reported expulsion of Mrs Ann Agom-Eze over Ebonyi South Senate seat has been described by the APC Umudomi Ward Chairman in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Ogboji John Ogbonnaya, as false.

Agom-Eze was Governor David Umahi’s main challenger for the Ebonyi South senatorial ticket of the APC ahead of the 2023 polls.

Following Governor Umahi’s loss at the APC Presidential Primaries and the subsequent withdrawal of Austin Umahi, Governor Umahi’s younger brother for the latter, Agom-Eze had approached the court seeking to be declared the Ebonyi South APC Senatorial candidate and on July 22, a Federal High Court in Abakaliki ordered a rerun of the senatorial primary election.

Announcing her expulsion, the party chairman in the state, Mr Stanley Okoro-Emegha, had in a statement issued in Abakaliki, stated that Agom-Eze rebelliously jeopardised her membership by violating APC’s constitution which prohibits any act of dishonesty capable of disparaging the party or its member(s).

But describing the reported expulsion as false, the ward Chairman, Ogboji, in a statement he personally signed, stated: “The attention of the All Progress Congress Party (APC)Umudomi Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has been drawn to a purported suspension/Expulsion of Princess Ann Nwanyibuife Agom-Eze from the Party at the Ward level.

“I want to use this medium to categorically state that the rumours of her suspension/expulsion are all false as such has never happened in Umudomi Ward.

“Since the matter is in the Appeal Court and we have received an Appeal Court injunction to that effect. Hence, restraining us from suspending anybody until the Court determined.

“I hereby urge the general public to disregard such rumour as Umudomi Ward of the All Progressive Congress Party (APC) are peace loving people.”

Meanwhile, a group, Ebonyi South Concerned Citizens, weekend kicked against the alleged suspension and expulsion of Mrs Ann Agom-Eze, from the party.

The group alleged the State Government through its agents coerced the Vice Chairman of Umudomi Ward, Mr Nwitte John-Eze, to sign a letter, which purportedly suspended and expelled Mrs Agom-Eze, on Saturday.

Accusing Governor Umahi of desperation, the leader of the group, Engr Ugochukwu Orji, hinted that suspending Mrs Agom-Eze amounted to cutting corners.
