It was learnt that the incident affected one of the buildings of the command.

A source at the command told Daily Trust that the fire incident was triggered by a surge in public power supply.

According to him, the ensuing inferno was later put out through the combined efforts of the Enugu State Fire Service and Federal Fire Service.

Spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, also confirmed the development.

Uwujaren explained that no life was lost in the inferno.

Confirming the fire outbreak to our Enugu correspondent, the Enugu State Chief Fire Officer, Engr. Okwudiri Ohaa said investigations were still on to ascertain the actual cause of the fire.

“Preliminary investigations are still on to confirm what actually caused the fire. However, I suspect that it was caused by a power surge. EFCC officials contacted us and the fire has been put out with no life lost.

“Enugu Fire Service visited the scene with about five vehicles and as I speak to you, we are still on ground to ensure that everything is in order and that the fire doesn’t start afresh”, Ohaa stated.

He explained that the fire broke out in an old building with a highly flammable roof and that contributed to the quick spread of the fire.

Ohaa also added that the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has directed Enugu Fire Service to ensure that multiple fire extinguishers like fire balls and conventional fire extinguishers are procured and installed at the zonal office of the EFCC to forestall future occurrences.
