NIPR President, Ike Neliaku headlines 3rd Frontier Discourse Public Lecture and Awards as Keynote Speaker

Organisers of the Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards have announced Dr. Ike Neliaku as the Keynote Speaker at the third edition of the annual public lecture and awards.

In a brief statement made available to newsmen in Enugu, the organisers, Pacesetter Frontier Magazine noted that Dr. Ike Neliaku will speak on the topic, The Post Subsidy Economy – Exploring Bold Initiatives for Economic Recovery in Nigeria.

The magazine added that the idea behind the Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture Series and Awards “is a part of her contributions to having a sane, orderly and progressive society, one that her citizens will be proud of, as well as appreciating the contributions of eminent, outstanding and compassionate individuals to building this kind of society”.

Continuing, she said: “Through the annual public lecture and awards, robust discussions for the emancipation, advancement, development and progress of the society have been birthed, alongside celebrating and awarding individuals of repute in their various sphere of endeavors”.

Dr. Ike Neliaku is a resourceful professional and marketplace entrepreneur, with wealth of experience spanning over 30 years in development communication, information management, public administration, and leadership.

He holds both Ph.D. in Development Studies and Masters in Political Economy from the University of Abuja, and Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos

He also earned a Certificate from London School of Economics.

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR); Fellow, African Public Relations Association (APRA), Fellow; Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators; Fellow, Institute of Management Consultants; Fellow, Institute of Entrepreneurs; and Life Member Society for International Development (SID), Italy.

In recognition of his outstanding service, creativity, leadership skills and contributions to Imo state and Nigeria during his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 1989 -1990 service year, he was conferred with the Best NYSC Imo State Governor’s Award, by the then Governor of Imo State, followed by the ‘President’s NYSC Honours Award by then President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, GCFR. This earned him an automatic employment into the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture in 1991, thus beginning a fulfilling career in public service as Information Officer.

He worked in the public service for over 20 years, holding key positions in Federal Ministries and The Presidency at different times. He served as Special Assistant to 5 successive Ministers of Information, Culture and National Orientation, respectively for about a decade and was later deployed to The Presidency in 1999 as pioneer Special Assistant to help set up the then newly created Ministry of Cooperation and Integration in Africa.

He also served in the Office of the Political Adviser to the President of Nigeria from 2003 to 2006 as Special Assistant, helped to restructure and refocus the Office for stronger relevance and efficiency at the time. In 2010, he was appointed Senior Special Assistant (Administration) to the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria and deployed to Head the Office of the First Lady, where he served until May 2015. He was a Member, Governing Council, Federal University, Gusau, 2015-2016.

Dr. Ike has travelled to over 45 countries as a member of various federal government delegations, participated in more than 55 technical missions on sustainable development, information and communication management, negotiations and diplomacy, cultural relations, public sector administration, infrastructure development, leadership and management development, gender empowerment, youth development, etc. He served variously as Chairman, Technical Coordinator, Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Member, of over 37 specialized federal government committees at national level.

On the 25th of August 2023, Dr Ike Neliaku was elected President and Chairman of Council, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.

In the private sector, Dr Neliaku has worked as Director Programmes, Institute of Civil Society, Abuja; founding Vice Chairman/CEO, abc Shelters Ltd (a property development company). He is the Executive Vice Chairman, Rightangle PR; Executive Producer, Rightangle Productions; Convener, Issachar Centre for Research and Development; Member, Governing Board and Executive Secretary, Nigerian Prize for Leadership.

Ike Neliaku is the author of ‘7 Conspiracies of Power’, a 662-page authoritative exposĂ© on Nigerian politics, politricks and politicians.

Dr. Neliaku has engaged in charity and community development projects at various levels. He is a Co-founder of Anambra REBIRTH (a non-partisan initiative for value reorientation, political education and economic empowerment for Anambra youths), serving as its pioneer Pioneer National Coordinator. About 5,000 youths were trained and empowered with different skills and financial support to engage in various sustainable means of livelihood.
He was Chairman, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Asokoro Division, Abuja; etc.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Hotel Sunshine, Presidential Road, Independence Layout, Enugu by 11am (Green Carpet).
