The people of Obuoffia Awkunanaw in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State have announced the second edition of their cultural festival for December 31, 2023.

The festival which is to hold at the Obuoffia Central School Field (Mission) by 3pm, is expected to showcase the richness of the culture of the people of Obuoffia through the unveiling of different masquerade and dance groups.

Speaking to Pacesetter in Enugu, the Chairman, Obuoffia Cultural Group, Nnabuike Ani said the event is open to all, promising attendees a rich display of culture and entertainment.

Ani who noted that culture was a tool for togetherness, reiterated the preparedness of the cultural group to host the people.

In his words, “The Obuoffia Cultural Festival debuted in 2022. The event which has elicited the interest of ndi Obuoffia at home and in the diaspora has its essence as to foster peace and prosperity in Obuoffia.

“Promising to be entertaining, we are by this, inviting the general public, the good people in Obuoffia, Awkunanaw clan, the larger Nkanu nation and ndi Enugu to participate in this epoch-making event as we retell the identities of our forefathers and showcase, basically for entertainment and educational purposes, the richness of our culture”.

Earlier, the traditional head of Obuoffia and Igwe of Omuoha Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Barr. Igwesi Obi Igwesi, had, through the Obuoffia Welfare Association (OWA) led by Dr. Iyke Nnaji as her National President, presented a life cow and bags of rice with OWA adding cash gifts to the group in support of the cultural festival.
