…The Orji Nnaji family are among the first to heed Gov. Mbah’s call for direct foreign investment – Udo Ahalu

Driven by the “Aku Ruo Uno” Initiative, the Orji Nnaji Family of Agbani, based in Minnesota, United States of America, has donated projects worth millions of dollars to the people of Amakpu Agbani Community in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony of the projects took place over the weekend, Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Agbani Town Hall, Nkanu West LGA, Enugu State.

Speaking exclusively to Pacesetter, an indigene of Agbani, Udochuma Ahalu explained clearly what the ribbon-cutting was all about and the idea behind the projects.

In his words: “The program is about commissioning of multiple projects donated by the Orji Nnaji family to the Amakpu community in Agbani, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

“The family’s foremost agenda has always been to give back to the society. Over the years, they have, in numerous ways, tried to help the good people of Agbani by aiding people in setting up their trades, giving scholarships to indigent students, monetary assistance to indigent Agbani families, sponsoring Agbani indigents to overseas, among establishing other various massive projects.

“In Agbani today, we can beat our chest and say that in the entire West Africa, we boast of having the finest olympic size basketball court, courtesy of the Orji Nnaji family.

“Projects which we are commissioning today include an Olympic standard twin basketball court with a standard gym house; Ultra modern Nvu Pavilion; State of the Art Technology Lab; Multi solar powered boreholes and streets lights; An academy that is sitting on arces of land, to mention a few of the achievements”.

Ahalu noted that the family also donated motorcycles and walkie talkies to aid security in Agbani and Nkanu West LGA.

While praising the initiative of the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah who called for direct foreign investment in the state and revealing that the Orji Nnaji family was at the fore of the clarion call by the Governor to expand the economy of the state, he stated that “this is a project that is running into millions of dollars. These projects came in one swoop within the last 18 months. This is something that is going to continue into the future”.

Some notable dignitaries that attended the event were Sen. Kelvin Chukwu, Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial Zone (represented); Hon. Uchenna Ejim, the Executive Chairman of Nkanu West; Hon. Frank Anioma, Political Adviser to the Governor of Enugu State; Barr. Steve Oruruo and Chief Okechukwu Nnaji.

Others were Dame Ugochi Madueke, Enugu State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; HRH Igwe Dr. Charles Nwoye, Obioha 1 of Amurri; HRH Igwe Emma Ugwu, Eze Okwe of Okwe Kingdom; Chief Sunday Eze, among others.
