Eid Al-Fitr Celebration: Tinubu, Shettima Arrive Lagos, Borno, Respectively

Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu and Vice President, Kashim Shettima, have both arrived Lagos and Borno respectively to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, which signifies the end of Ramadan.

President Tinubu on board the Nigerian Air Force presidential plane 5NFGW, landed at 4:30 pm local time at the Presidential wing of the Muritala Mohammed Airport in Ikeja, and was received by the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu and some of his cabinet members.

While in Lagos, the President would observe the solemn occasion in prayers for the country and Nigerians and is expected to return to Abuja after the Eid al-Fitr holidays to continue his official duties.

For the Vice President, on arrival at the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport Maiduguri, he was received by the Borno State Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur.

The Vice President, who is in his home State of Borno alongside his wife Nana, is expected to use the opportunity to complete the remaining days of the Ramadan fast with his kith and kin.

While in the State, he will hold sessions of iftar (breaking of fast) with political associates and various interest groups.

At the end of the Holy month of Ramadan, VP Shertima will observe the two raqa’at Eid Al-Fitr prayer at the Eid ground located with Ramat square in Maiduguri.

He is expected to pay Sallah homage to the States’s paramount ruler, the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn-Garbai on Sallah day.

Reports say a Durba will also be organized in honour of the Vice President, at the palace of the Shehu of Borno.
