Will Smith apologises for slapping Chris Rock at Oscars
American actor, Will Smith, says his recent behaviour at the Oscars was “out of line” and “wrong,” as he tendered a public apology to Chris Rock, the Oscar Academy and the entire show attendants.
Will took to his Instagram page to release a statement of apology for assaulting Chris.
“I would like to publicly apologise to you, Chris. I was out of line, and I was wrong. I am embarrassed, and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be,” admitted Will.
At the 94th Academy Award on March 28, the show’s host, Chris, made a joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett’s new bald haircut. An offended Will walked to the stage and slapped Chris.

Although Will said his action was “unacceptable and inexcusable,” he admitted that “a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for him to bear,” leading him to react “emotionally.”
Jada suffers from an incurable autoimmune disorder that attacks hair follicles.
“I would like to apologise to the academy, the producer of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world,” he added.
Chris has declined to press charges against Will.
