The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to release a revised list of candidates for the 2027 general elections following a review prompted by complaints from stakeholders.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed this on Tuesday while speaking with journalists in Gombe during an interactive session with commission staff from the North-East zone.
He said the review was necessary to correct errors in candidates’ details, including misspelt names and cases involving double nominations.
According to Amupitan, the commission allowed a maximum of 14 days to examine the complaints before publishing the updated list.
He explained that errors could occur in published candidates’ lists, making it necessary for the commission to address reported discrepancies before releasing the revised version.
The chairman said the review process had been concluded and the updated list would be made public soon.
The development comes as INEC intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the commission seeking to ensure the accuracy of candidates’ information ahead of the polls.
