Sit-At-Home: Enugu’s Mbah invites stakeholders to townhall meeting

Following the cancelation of sit-at-home in Enugu state by Governor Peter Mbah, a townhall meeting of stakeholders and different groups have been summoned.

In a statement made available to newsmen and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the meeting is scheduled for Saturday, 10th June, 2023, at the Banquet Hall, Old Government Lodge, Abakaliki Road, GRA, Enugu, by 10.30am prompt.

Part of the statement reads:

“Pursuant to the cancellation of the sit-at-home order by the Enugu State Government, effective 5th June, 2023, and as a follow-up to his earlier consultations with various groups, the Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, hereby invites the following stakeholders to a town-hall meeting on the way forward:

1. Leaders of the Clergy (CAN, PFN, Bishops, Imams)

2. Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council.

3. Leaders of Civil Society Organisations

4. Leaders of Transport Unions

5. Heads of Banks and Other Financial Institutions

6. Heads of Security and Intelligence Agencies

7. State Leaders of Neighbourhood Watch/Forest Guard Groups

8. Vice Chancellors, Rectors and Provosts of Tertiary Institutions

9. Leaders of Association of Proprietors of Private Schools

10. Representatives of the NUT, ANCORPS

11. Heads of Radio/Television and Other Media Organisations

12. Students Union Leaders in Tertiary Institutions

13. Leaders of NURTW, RTEAN, and Tricycle Riders Association

14. Leaders of Non-indigene Groups (Hausa, Yoruba, etc.)

15. Presidents and Secretaries General of Motor Parks in Enugu State

16. Leaders of Association of Enugu State Town Unions

17. Chairmen of Inter-Party Advisory Council/Conference of Political Parties

18. Market Union Leaders

19. Executive Members of Hotel Owners Association

20. ALGON

21 NULGE State Leaders

Recall that the state government had, effective Monday, 5th June, 2023, canceled the sit-at-home order in the state.
