Enugu: Council Chairman Ejim celebrates 2023 World Disability Day with PLWDs in Nkanu West LG

The 2023 World Wisability Day, WDD will remain memorable in the minds of people living with disabilities in Nkanu West Local Government Area, LGA as the Council Chairman, Hon Uchenna Calistus Ejim, Wednesday distributed wheelchairs, clutches, walking sticks, bags of rice among other items to people living with disabilities in the council area during the commemoration of 2023 WDD.

This year’s WDD celebration, as observed at Nkanu West LGA Secretariat, Agbani was organized by the council in conjunction with the Physiotherapy Department of UNTH, Ozalla.

Speaking during the occasion, Ejim who obviously was full of compassion said that “we decided to celebrate this year’s World Disability Day in a special way because our brothers and sisters who are living with various disabilities are special and deserve to be treated as such.

“We are passionate about the disables and will continue to recognize them specially as long as we serve the people of Nkanu West”, Ejim stated

The Chairman also gave scholarships to five children who are living with disabilities and assured them of any further assistance as may arise.

Moreso, the staff and students of Physiotherapy department of UNTH, Ituku Ozalla who partnered with Nkanu West LGA to commemorate the 2023 WDD offered free medical services to over 400 people living with disabilities during the occasion.

The occasion was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the local government, Hon Chijioke Oscar Ngene, the Secretary to the LG, Hon Modecaiah Edeh, the Councilors, Supervisors, Special Advisers among others.
